Google Checkout and Hurricane Gustav

September 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Fellow writer and friend, Justin Thorp, posts donating to those harmed by Hurricane Gustav. Gustav is a big mother, and its heading toward our shores. No doubt, there will be people in need.

What’s interesting is that social commentaries suggest that our generation is one of the most charitable and proactive since the Greatest Generation. With much efforts towards grassroots level activism such as Teach for America, Peace Corp, Church Activities, and so on, let’s keep it going.

Red Cross’s donate page offers a very efficient way of donating: google checkout. Minimum donation is $10.00. If Obama’s campaign is any evidence of the accumulative effect of small donations, then a donation what would cost a meal, would be beneficial to people. Not only that, facebook offers a Red Cross application for donation via clicking.

I remember when the news reported Hurricane Katrina. I felt powerless and angry and wanted to help. If you felt the same, here’s a chance to make amends.
